An insight that "a certain region became a top performer in sales." The article's claim is that it surfaces changes you wouldn't have noticed on your own.
Rather than extending the reporting feature itself, it analyzes existing data daily, summarizes it in order of impact, and brings it to the forefrontpresentation layeris what's added. The underlying data is continuous with the existing analytics.
Insights are assumed to be recalculated daily. Since these aren't real-time metrics, they aren't suited for instantly catching sudden same-day changes. A "open it first thing in the morning" routine fits well.
Only the top 5 items by impact are presented. Changes outside that slot aren't brought to the forefront. You should treat comprehensive monitoring as something still done on the full reports side.
