Shop Campaigns performance data — ad spend, sales, ROAS, and customer acquisition cost — is now available through ShopifyQL. Analytics apps and BI tools can view it side by side with your other marketing channels.
Shop Campaigns results lived inside the Shopify admin. External analytics dashboards showed only your other channels, so side-by-side comparison wasn't possible.
ShopifyQL becomes the data outlet, letting analytics apps and BI tools bring Shop Campaigns into the same dashboard as every other channel.
What the article states explicitly is the granularity: campaign-level performance, broken down by customer segment and by time period. There are six metrics.
If you're on Triple Whale / Northbeam / Elevar or similar, providers can now integrate Shop Campaigns data into their own dashboards. When it actually ships is up to each vendor, so the move is to ask your provider about their timeline.
To do: contact your providerIf you build your own in Power BI / Tableau / Looker Studio, etc.,you can connect it yourself via ShopifyQL. No need to wait on anyone else.
To do: connect via ShopifyQLWithout any external tool, you can view Shop Campaigns directly from the Analytics tab or Advertising tab in the Shopify admin. Even if you're still evaluating tool integrations, start here to see the actual data granularity before deciding.
To do: open the admin| Item | Admin (Analytics / Advertising) | Via an analytics app | Your own BI (ShopifyQL connection) |
|---|---|---|---|
| When you can start | Right now | Depends on the provider | Right now |
| What you need to do | Nothing (just open the tab) | Check with the provider | Set up the connection and queries yourself |
| Integration with other channels | Limited to what's inside Shopify | Integrated into the app's dashboard | Design it however you like |
| Typical example | Shopify admin | Triple Whale / Northbeam / Elevar | Power BI / Tableau / Looker Studio |
| Customizability | Low (default views) | Depends on what the app offers | High |
Check the granularity and figures for Shop Campaigns in the Analytics / Advertising tab. See for yourself what's available.
If you use an analytics app, ask the provider when it will support this. If you have in-house BI, move ahead with the ShopifyQL connection.
Put ROAS and customer acquisition cost in the same report as your existing ad channels, so you can act on it when allocating budget.
Rather than a new dedicated API, this is more data added to the existing ShopifyQL. If you already build reports with ShopifyQL, chances are you only need to add a new data source.
You can slice by campaign, broken down by customer segment and by period. These three axes are the starting point for your query design and your dashboard dimensions.
Triple Whale / Northbeam / Elevar and others are now able to integrate— not that they are already integrated. Check each vendor's release timing before putting this in your rollout plan.
Table names, field names, data latency, and how far back history goes are all not documented. Before building these into production reports, it's safest to cross-check them against the numbers in the admin.
ROAS, customer acquisition cost, and AOV often already have in-house definitions in your existing ad reports. If Shopify's definitions and your own definitions diverge and you still plot them on the same chart, the comparison stops meaning anything. Agreeing on "what counts as acquisition cost" before you integrate is the first job of the implementation.
