Manage sale, return, exchange, gift, and gift card receipts together in the new content editor. Return and exchange receipts are consolidated into a single section with one total. Stores using Liquid customizations must migrate by January 1, 2027.
Settings were spread across each receipt type, making consistent branding a chore. Even routine wording tweaks meant reaching for the Liquid editor.
In the POS channel's content editor, apply branding, header, and footer to every receipt type at once.
Edits show up instantly. No more print-check-fix loop.
One setting carries across all 5 types.Location-level overrides only where you need themare part of the design.
Configure it once and it applies to every receipt type. No more copy-pasting the same wording for each type.
Designed so you override at the store level "only when you need to." Shared across all stores by default, individual only for exceptions — which keeps settings from scattering.
A dedicated field for your return policy text ships as standard. No need to cram it into a free-form footer.
You can have a signature line as a standard field, making it easier to standardize card payment slips and handoff confirmations.
For EU VAT, Canada's GST/QST, and Australia's ABN, there arededicated fields for region-specific tax numbers. If you used to hardcode these in Liquid, you can replace them with settings.
* How countries and tax regimes beyond those listed here are handled isnot stated.
Because item lines are no longer printed, you can print multiple receipts at once. That cuts the work of printing them one at a time for each gift.
Merchants can now choose whethergift card receipts print automatically. You can put a stop to unneeded paper piling up beside the register.
Your current Liquid template keeps printing while you review and configure the new one.
When you're ready, flip the switch to take the new format live.
The switch is irreversible. You can't return to Liquid, so check every receipt type for real before you flip it.
Shops with a custom Liquid receipt template have a migration deadline of 2027-01-01 . Add this to your inventory of existing projects. Start by checking every shop for whether it uses Liquid.
Once you turn on the shop-level switch, there's no going back to Liquid.all five types — sale, return, exchange, gift, and gift cardin preview before you commit. Plan on the assumption that no rollback procedure exists.
Return policy, signature line, VAT / GST, and QST / ABN are nowbuilt-in fields. If your old template hardcoded these, migration is likely just a matter of deleting them and moving them into settings.
The granularity is "override per location only when you need to."Keep the shared base rich and the exceptions thin— that's the right way to use it. If you override everything store by store, consolidating loses its point.
This announcement covers only POS printed receiptsand their admin settings. Whether they can be controlled from the Admin API or webhooks, whether this extends to email/SMS digital receipts, and which plans or countries are eligible are allnot mentioned. If you depend on automation or app integrations, you'll need to confirm separately in the Help Center and on real hardware.
