1What changed, in 30 seconds

The admin's Point of Sale channel page has been redesigned.
The path to the POS editor, until now buried deep in settings (Point of Sale > Settings > Customize), is nowone click away from the live preview you see the moment you open the channel page, and you can now also readyour store's sales figures on the same page.

Live previews up front

The "Customize the in-store experience" section shows a preview of your store'sactuallock screen, customer display, and receipt.

Analytics in the same place

Shows total sales, order count, discounts, and returns for today / the last 7 days / the last 30 days. With multiple stores, you can filter by location.

Operational links and onboarding path

Direct links to staff management and location management. If no POS device is set up yet, a QR code for downloading the POS app appears.

2Structure of the new page (illustrated)

Point of Sale channel page (new) ① Customize the in-store experience Lock screen Customer display Receipt ② Analytics Gross sales gross sales Order count orders Discounts discounts Returns returns ③ Management links / QR QR codes for staff management, location management, and POS app download (when not yet set up) One click From each metric POS editor Edit the selected surface directly Full report for each metric A link per metric Filters Today Last 7 days Last 30 days Location (for multi-store setups) Viewing Analytics requires permissions
The key point:the channel page has become both a dashboard and an entry point for store operations.
Until now, "fixing the look" and "checking the numbers" lived on separate screens — now both start from the same page.

3Customize: the three surfaces you can preview

The "Customize the in-store experience" section previewsyour store's actual content. Not template samples — these are the screens your staff and customers actually see.

Lock screen
The POS standby screen staff touch first
Customer display
The screen that faces the customer at checkout
Receipt
The printout the customer takes away after buying
From any of the three previews, you can open the POS editor for that surface in one click. A path that lets you pick what to fix by eye before entering the editor.

4The numbers visible in the Analytics section

Time period

Today / Last 7 days / Last 30 days

Choose from these three. No mention of any other date range options.

Filtering

By location

If you sell across multiple stores, you can filter by location.

Navigation

Each metric → full report

Each metric links out to its corresponding full report.

5Before vs. after: comparing the pages

ItemBeforeAfter the redesign
Path to the POS editor Buried several levels deep Point of Sale > Settings > Customize One click Straight from the preview at the top of the channel page (the old path still works)
Checking the in-store experience You can't see how it actually looks until you open the editor Live preview Check the lock screen, customer-facing display, and receipts right on the page
Checking store sales Go to the reports screen Same page Shows total sales, orders, discounts, and returns, with links from each metric to the full report
Staff / location management Not mentioned (go to each settings screen) Direct links Go there straight from the channel page
Stores not yet using POS Not mentioned QR code Displays a QR code for downloading the Shopify POS app

6Requirements and permissions

Everyone using the Point of Sale channel

The new page is available to all users of the Point of Sale channel. No mention of a phased rollout or opt-in.

Analytics requires a permission

For staff to see the Analytics section, the Analytics permission is required. Staff without it won't see this section at all.

Supported plans, supported countries, and rollout timing (whether it ships in stages) arenot stated. Check what actually appears in your own admin.

7Two entry points to the POS editor

A

New path: from the preview

Click the lock screen / customer screen / receipt preview at the top of the channel page.

B

Existing path: from settings

Point of Sale > Settings > Customize. This still works as before.

C

Not set up yet? Use the QR code

Stores with no POS device configured see a QR code for downloading the POS app.

The existing path is still there, so your current manuals and internal runbooks won't break overnight. That said, it's faster to point new team members at the new path.

8Five points for technical teams

1. This is an admin UI change

No POS features or settings were added — what changed isthe information architecture of the channel page. There's no mention of existing POS settings being affected.

2. Permission design drives what's on screen

Staff without the Analytics permission don't see the Analytics section.A design that splits "visible to store managers / hidden from part-time staff" by permissionis reflected directly in the UI.

Store A Store B

3. A UI built for multi-location

If you run multiple stores, you can filter by location. Put another way, without a tidy location setup you won't get any granularity in your analytics. Settle on a naming convention for locations first.

API ?

4. No mention of the API / webhooks

There's no mention of spec changes to the Admin API or webhooks. Treat this as a change confined to the admin, so even if you've built automation on top, it reads asno impact within the scope of this article.

5. The numbers are an overview; go deep in the full reports

Analytics on the channel page covers 4 metrics — total sales, orders, discounts, returns — across 3 time periods: afixed overview. Custom date-range comparisons and per-product breakdowns happen in the full report each metric links to. If you're using it as a dashboard, thinkchannel page = daily checkup / reports = full workupDeciding your operational rules around that division of responsibilities keeps confusion to a minimum.

9Three use cases you can apply to your work

Editor
USE CASE 1

Run store branding "review → fix" from a single screen

Challenge
Every time you change a logo or swap campaigns, it's a chore to verify that all three surfaces — lock screen, customer display, and receipt — have been updated together, and you end up with misses like the receipt still showing the old logo.
Approach
Open the channel page, line up the live previews of all three surfaces for a visual check, then click the preview of whichever surface is off and fix it right there in the POS editor.
Impact
Consistency checks across all three surfaces are done on one screen, so you catch missed updates sooner. You also cut down on how often you have to boot up a physical device to confirm.
Technical notes
The previews are not template samples — they showyour store's actual content. The traditional Point of Sale > Settings > Customize path still works, so you can phase in updates to your internal documentation gradually.
Sales Orders Discounts Returns Today / 7 days / 30 days
USE CASE 2

Make the store manager's "morning numbers check" a fixture of the channel page

Challenge
Daily checks per store depend on navigating the reports screen, so the metrics and time periods people look at vary from person to person. Every handoff to a new store manager means teaching it all over again.
Approach
Make "open the channel page every morning, filter to your own location, and review Today / Last 7 days" the standard procedure. When a metric looks off, follow its link down into the full report to track down the cause.
Impact
The metrics you look at (total sales, orders, discounts, returns) and the time periods are consistent across every store, making cross-store comparisons and handoffs easier. The entry point for digging deeper is unified in the same place too.
Technical notes
Displaying the Analytics section requiresanalytics permissions. Before rolling out the procedure, take inventory of which staff have been granted them.
USE CASE 3

Shorten onboarding for new POS rollouts and new store openings

Challenge
For clients opening a physical store, you walk them through how to get the app, register staff, and configure locations verbally or via documentation, which means a lot of back-and-forth during initial setup.
Approach
For stores with no POS device configured, the channel page displays aQR code for downloading the app, so show them this one page and have them work through it in order: install via the QR code → staff management link → location management link.
Impact
Setup instructions are consolidated into a single screen, reducing both the length of your onboarding materials and the back-and-forth of support questions.
Technical notes
The QR code appears only when no POS device is set up yet. Direct links to staff management and location management are on the same page, so you can close out any missed initial setup from a single screen. No information is given on supported countries or plans.

10One-line summary you can use in a proposal

"The POS channel page has been redesigned into an entry point featuringlive previewsof the in-store experience andstore analytics.
Lock screen, customer display, and receipts jump to the POS editor in one click, while sales, orders, discounts, and returns can be checked on the spot across today, 7 days, and 30 days.
Applies to all Point of Sale channel users; viewing Analytics requires the analytics permission."
